Toyapakeh Details:
Some people say if you are going to do just one dive on Nusa Penida then Toyapakeh is where you should go. What makes this site so impressive are the great pillars of coral at about 10-15 meters which make it appear like an ‘underwater city’, the water is clear, the corals rich and although the bay is quite exposed, it does offer some protection from the strong currents flowing through the straits. Toyapakeh is also one of the only sites on Penida where you can find big gorgonians and soft coral bushes; the marine life here is excellent with the deeper areas a popular spot for large pelagic fish and sometimes mola mola.
Toyapakeh Recommendations:
If you want to see sunfish, try coming in early August or October to avoid the crowds.
A word of warning
No matter how experienced a diver you are, listen to your experienced guide as the currents on this site can be unpredictable.
