Just around the corner from Tulamben Bay lies Batu Kelebit; it is what is known as a ‘do it all’ dive site with dramatic underwater structure, beautiful corals, luscious gorgonians, great macro and big fish; in addition to all this it is inherently protected from current making it diveable in almost any conditions.
In contrast to the dark volcanic sand that dominates other Tulamben sites, Batu Kelebit has white sand between coral outcrops. The sandy shallow areas attract peacock mantis shrimp and cuttle fish are also common in this area with it once being a popular breeding ground for them. Batu Kelebit also boasts beautiful ridges of reef that drop off steeply to depths of 30-50 meters; divers should keep watch in this area as this is where sharks and barracuda are often sighted.
