Tulamben Shipwreck details
The top site in Tulamben is undoubtedly the ‘USAT’ Liberty shipwreck, and rightfully so! This WWII casualty lies close to the shore and slopes from 5-30 meters. Every part of the wreck offers something special with beautiful corals and hundreds of different fish species. Beginner divers will be in awe of exploring a shipwreck and advanced divers will discover something new with every dive with the wreck offering a great mixture of both big fish and great macro.
Tulamben Recommendations
Stay overnight in Tulamben and do the ‘USAT Liberty’ by torchlight, you won’t recognize it as the same site; certain species such as lion fish and moray eels are out of hiding and feeding openly, the colours are more vibrant and the bumphead parrotfish lined up inside the wreck (taking a nap) are something not to be missed.
The early morning dive on the wreck is a favourite with all of us at Blue Season Bali; the visibility is better, there are few divers in the water and the fish are all waking up. There is a different atmosphere to this dive that cannot quite be put in to words.
A word of Warning
The rocky beach entry could cause problems for older divers or anyone with a disability.
