Bali Diving Newsletter 2010Tips from the Experts - As not all divers are built in a similar way, they also all tend to use a different amount of weights to keep them down during their dives. These weights can sometimes cause a small problem in balance underwater.

We all unconsciously know that if we have 4 weights on our weight belt, we need to put two on the left and two to the right to keep our balance underwater.

But how do we solve this when we have an odd number of weights on our belt?

The trick is to put one weight in the center of the belt up front; you can then slide the buckle slightly to the left so that the quick release mechanism is still operable. This is however only a solution for those using a traditional weight belt, for those amongst us that are using a weight integrated BCD or a weight harness; there is another solution. These divers can fill the left and right weight pocket with an equal amount of weights and the remaining weight can be attached to the BCD’s cam band, and of course we want to make sure that the weight is placed in the center of the cylinder. This last technique can also be used for divers with a traditional weight belt.
