Bali Critter Life
The Manta Ray, AKA - Devil fish, Prince Alfred’s ray, devil ray, giant manta - these exceptionally graceful creatures are one of the largest inhabitants of the seas and yet they feed on some of the smallest. They use the unfurled cephalic (head) fins on the head (which look like horns when they are not feeding) to funnel and push plankton-rich water into the mouth, where pinkish-brown sponge-like tissue located between the successive gill bars that support the gills filter out the plankton and small fish, but anything that fits in their mouths could end up being swallowed such as lobster, and octopus that float and swim in the open water - read more
Bali Dive Sites - Padang Bai
The sites off Padang Bai can sometimes get overlooked as divers from all over the world flood to the ‘USAT Liberty’ wreck in Tulamben or go on a quest for manta rays and sunfish off Nusa Penida (and rightfully so as both locations offer phenomenal diving!) However although Blue Lagoon (and neighbouring sites Jepun and Tanjung Sari) might not look as spectacular at first glance as either the shipwreck or Penida, it can offer alternative marine life and conditions suitable for any level of diver - read more
