PADI Course Director & Tec Trimix Instructor - Tom Barrett
The newest addition to our multi-award-winning team here at Blue Season Bali is PADI Course Director and Tec Trimix Instructor Thomas Barrett (Bazz). Bazz's experience and expertise has won him recognition by PADI five times for excellence in service and education.
Bazz is a fantastic addition to the Bali Technical Exploration Team, the only active technical exploration project in the region. His experiences at depths far exceeding the average technical dive have given him a wider range of awareness when it comes to logistics and planning.

Tec Trimix Courses
One of the greatest advances in deep technical diving to occur over the last few decades is the use of mixed gas for the management of narcosis and oxygen toxicity. Technical Trimix training is needed to make use of this advance and the DSAT Tec Trimix Course is a thorough and in-depth training experience which will introduce you to the procedures and planning required to dive with helium-, nitrogen- and oxygen-based mixtures.
Bazz can conduct the Tec-65 and Full Tec Trimix courses to qualified technical divers upon prior arrangement here at Blue Season Bali. If you are interested in diving trimix or taking trimix training with us, please simply contact us to find out more information.
Technical Exploration - Bazz takes the lead
As the most experienced and qualified member of the Bali Technical Exploration Team, Bazz is one of the "push divers" going deepest into the abyss or furthest into the darkness. Still a young guy at only 25 years old, his maturity, talent and experience far outpace his age. Throughout 2012, Bazz will be leading our exploration team to check out some local rumors of additional wrecks along the North Bali coast, as well as help us continue to put more deep Trimix sites on the map.
Technical exploration dives are open to qualifed divers by prior arrangement. Following the philosophy of a "team first" approach, qualified technical divers are assessed for ability, competence, team and situational awareness, etc. before any expedition takes place. Responsible divers always understand the need for the assessment process. As it happens, the only divers who thought they were above the assessment process turned out to be divers we didn't want to dive with anyway. Go figure...
IMPORTANT!!! - The DSAT Tec Trimix Course is a "limitless" certification. After completing this training there is no official maximum depth at which divers may apply their skills. For this reason, the risks posed to divers who lack mature judgement are extremely high. Divers are advised to build their experience and comfort at depth by pushing their limits responsibly and patiently. Bazz can teach you the knowledge, skills and procedures which are required to undertake deep Trimix diving safely. He cannot teach you common sense.
Our training philosophy with regard to technical diving is simple- we must be absolutely certain that a student is able to go away and conduct dives at their certification level safely and without the direct supervision of a technical diving instructor. For this reason, and as the Tec Trimix certification technically has no maximum depth, our standard of training and expectation of candidates are extremely high. All candidates are advised to plan a few extra days in Bali just in case remediation is necessary.
If you have the attitude it takes to become a safe and responsible Trimix diver, please feel free to contact Bali Technical Exploration Team Leader Tom West directly at tom@blueseasonbali.com. He will be happy to discuss the options that are available to help you meet your goals in technical diving.
