Dive Sites around Bali – Overview

Underwater Photography Journal – Dive Sites & Camera Lens

There are at least more than 40 dive sites around Bali, starting from east coast, then up to the north-east coast and west coast near Java Island. The entire dive site provides its uniqueness by itself! Let’s talk about them… they are really amazing for underwater photography freak like me. Sometimes you may be a little confused about what camera lens that you are going to use (as was I). Well its part of learning and I’m happy to share this with you

Menjangan Island

If you’re planning to dive and take beautiful underwater scenery of Menjangan Island, the best lens to use is a Fish eye lens. Menjangan Island provides mostly wall dive with bunch of huge sea fans, giant sponges and if we’re lucky sometime we can see whale shark passing during migration to another spot! Menjangan became my favorite dive site and the currents there mostly drifting.

Puri Jati

Next to Menjangan, there is macro dive site which is my most favorite dive site in Bali. It is called PuriJati. Its has sandy bottom from 4 until 9 meters and they are very broad, which makes you feel as if you are in a golf yard! But, there are so many weird critters we can see here. What makes PuriJati famous is Melibenudi branch.

Secret Bay

Another macro dive site near Menjangan, is Secret Bay which is the only dive site in Bali that you can see Banggai Cardinal fish. This Banggai Cardinal fish is only found here at Indonesia. You can find it first in Lembeh, Sulawesi Island and the second is here in Secret Bay, Bali. How amazing these fish population right?

Banggai cardinal fish, usually live in stag horn coral, or anemone. But here in Bali, they live near sea urchin.
