Best Dive Job Blog | Facing PADI Instructor Examination
It’s hard to believe but there is only one week left until James and I are officially in our PADI instructor examination (IE)!!! This is the final stretch !! When I first started my IDC, 28 days seemed like a lifetime to be away from my favorite dive sites and underwater creatures, but it has flown by. The amount of things we have both learned is immense. Lucky for us, Course Directors Jon and Stefan and Staff Instructor Chris have helped us sail through exam stress, physics worries, Knowledge Development presentations and simulated Open Water and Confined Water sessions. I must admit that we are still battling some nerves and worries about the big upcoming exam but with one more week of preparation and literally a crowd of experienced Course Directors (2 of them Platinum level) and Staff Instructors at our disposal I am sure we will both pass the exam with flying colours.
Tomorrow is a big day with practice Open Water presentation dives in the morning, Confined Water presentation dives in the afternoon not to mention an exam and planning session for our next Knowledge Development presentation sandwiched in there somewhere as well.
The IDC can be a bit of a wild ride at times but I feel that I’m really getting top level training here. Our instructors are not satisfied to simply have us pass our exams, they want us to be the best PADI instructors we can be. Yes, sometimes this means we are pushed hard but in the end I know I will come out of my IE a highly skilled PADI instructor. I’m really looking forward to the upcoming week full of challenges and learning experience leading into our official Instructor Exam.
I’m also looking forward to the IE after party but more about that later…
