OUR OCEANS, OUR FUTURE – A TRIBUTE TO OUR ENVIRONMENT!

World Ocean Day

Since 2002 the World Ocean Day is an annual celebration on June 8 as well as a call for ocean conservation action throughout the year. Here in Bali we hold regular beach clean ups to give back to our local environment, however, education in key and reducing non recyclable waste in general can have a two fold affect on your local environment.

We would like to give you some useful tips and tricks for your daily life in order to reduce non recyclable waster – this will help us to protect the environment around us:

  1. Be smart!
The small things matter! Ordering your drink without a straw in the restaurant, bringing your own bags to the grocery store and your own travel mug to your favorite coffee shop.
  2. Who needs plastic bottles?
Use glass bottles or reusable bottles instead of plastic bottles. Each year we throw around 20 Billion water bottles away. It’s easy to protect our environment from that.
  3. Go Out!
Participate in local beach clean ups – if you live close to the beach ;). It’s the best way to give something back, you would be surprised how much trash you can find on the beach.
  4. Cook more!
Instead of ordering food you could prepare your own food or bring your own food-storage container to the restaurant for your leftovers.
  5. Matches for everyone!
For all the smokers among yourselves, instead of using those cheap plastic lighters you could switch to matches or refillable metal ones.
  6. Recycle, recycle, recycle!
It’s not possible to have a life without plastic, because it’s literally everywhere. But you could start recycling your trash – at least for the beginning.

It’s not a big deal for every individual, but it’s a big deal for our environment! Be the change you want to see in the world!
